2014, AKV St. Joost
This is a sort of "making of" of my installation "CYMATICS". CYMATICS is meant to be experienced in real life, where the viewer has influence on the final image. The goal was to create an installation, and to explore the boundaries of animation. The interesting thing I found out was that even water could be considered as a tool to animate, aswell as writing code to create an image. Below is a still image from the actual projection.
It worked as following: I had a camera set up to look at the overall color of a black background. Whenever someone would walk into the frame, the average color would increase creating a semi-unique value. This value was then translated to a tone, which would generate the waves as seen below.
